Initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic, the grocery voucher program was designed to provide crucial support to vulnerable families facing food insecurity. 

These vouchers not only alleviate immediate hunger but also empower families to choose nutritious options that suit their needs. 

In recognition of the ongoing hardships faced by these communities, the initiative has expanded to include additional services like medical assistance and housing support, ensuring a more comprehensive approach to helping families in crisis.

 Cape Town’s winters are particularly severe, with wet, damp, and chilly conditions posing significant challenges for those living in informal settlements.

 Many residents rely on thin walls and makeshift roofs that offer little protection against the elements. 

To address this, winter-proofing efforts have been implemented, which involve enhancing the insulation and overall structural integrity of these shacks. 

This vital intervention has proven instrumental in improving the living conditions of affected families, enabling them to navigate the harsh winter months with greater comfort and security.
